Old Phuket Town walking circuit (+/- 3 hours)

Price: 4,100 THB per person

Take part in this unique walking circuit along the streets of the old quarter of Phuket’s chef lieu and discover the historical and architectural riches of the island. Step back in time all the way to the 16th century when the Europeans began showing interest in Phuket’s tin.

Start your day in the heart of the town's old quarter and capture on film the European and Chinese influences in the buildings dating from the 18th century when most the tin mining activities were carried out by Chinese Hokkien.

The very active Chinese community built most of the shop houses in Phuket Town and you can still admire some of them in the present day.

Nowadays inhabitants of Phuket Town cherish this rich cultural heritage and more and more houses are being renovated.

You will even be able to visit the interior of one of these houses and witness how the Chinese merchants lived in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Halfway through the outdoor circuit, you will welcome a cooler stop inside the Chin Pracha House.

This house was built in 1903 by Mr. Tan Ma Siang and is a typical example of the famous Sino-Portuguese architecture. The different rooms of the house have been reconstituted with original furniture mostly imported from China and Europe and pictures of the previous generations of the family.

After this visit, you will carry on with the circuit reliving Phuket’s rich history and try to capture its architectural beauty as well as enjoying some more juicy anecdotes such as the old red light district street and its opium smoking parlors.

You will also be able to witness the influence of the Chinese merchants in the several Chinese shrines (small temple) doted around the town.

After completing the circuit (in around 3 hours), it will be time to head back to our shop for some finger food and a debriefing by the photographer who will review and comment your pictures.

Phuket Photo Tours offer you two ways to enjoy this tour: in the coolness of the morning with the Morning tour or in the Afternoon tour in order to catch the special atmosphere of the streets of the old quarter when the locals relax among friends with a coffee after work and to immortalize the sunset.
