Big Buddha – Phuket Town fresh market – Sea Gypsies village

Price: 3,900 THB per person

This tour will take you off the beaten tracks to give you an insight of Phuket's true local inhabitants.

Start your day by visiting one of the most popular attractions of Phuket, the Big Buddha image located atop the Nakkerd Hills chosen for the best views of both west and east sides of the island from which Thailand's largest Buddha image is visible from almost everywhere on the island.

After having your fill of pictures of monks going at their daily routines, you will head to Phuket Town where you will be given another chance to mingle with local people at the Phuket Town’s main and oldest Fresh Market.

Try to capture the smiles of the many vendors or their patrons or focus on the kaleidoscope of colors and textures put on display. Experience a glimpse of a typical day in Thai people’s life for whom buying at the fresh produces market is still a daily occurrence.

Your next stop is the Sea Gypsies Village where you will meet the last remaining Sea Gypsies of the island. There you will have plenty of opportunities to catch on camera some of the most genuine smiles on Phuket in this village where these people live from the sea and by its rhythms.

Indulge yourself with shooting kids – they just love having their picture taken as long as you show them their portrait – admire their fathers building or maintaining their fish traps, observe the mothers gossiping while collectively preparing the catch of the day…

Take time to enjoy this precious time with true locals as there is no other place on the island to immortalize the smiles of the genuine and authentic Phuket sea people.

At the end of the tour and the achieving of some wonderful pictures, head back to our shop where some finger food will be served and you will be able to participate in a debriefing by the photographer who will review and comment your pictures.

Decent attire is required of all visitors of a revered holy place such as a Buddhist temple. Make sure to avoid any beachwear or revealing clothes. Women cleavage, shoulders and the upper part of the legs should be covered.

The floors at the Phuket’s Fresh Market are always very wet and slippery; anti-slip shoes (or even wellingtons as the market’s vendor wear) are therefore strongly recommended.
